Home visitors
Join our fantastic volunteer team and play a vital role in improving the welfare and quality of life for the cats and kittens in our care.
Our Home Visit Volunteers are an essential part of the rehoming journey. You’ll help us assess each potential adopter’s home environment, lifestyle, and circumstances so we can make the very best match between cat and family. This careful matching process helps ensure our cats settle happily into their new homes and reduces the chance of them being returned, giving them the safe, loving future they deserve.

As a Home Visit Volunteer, your role may include:
· Meating with potential adopters to conduct an environmental assessment of their home, routine, and to discuss the responsibilities & expectations of cat ownership.
· Carrying out home checks either in person or remotely (via video call where appropriate).
· Completing a report with your observations and recommendations.
· Highlighting any considerations or advice to help set both the cat and adopter up for success.

You don’t need prior experience for this role, just a genuine love of animals, good communication skills, and a thoughtful, friendly approach. We’ll provide guidance, support, and any training you need to feel confident in the role.

One of the best things about this role is its flexibility. You can offer as much or as little time as suits you, picking up outstanding home visits when you’re available. Many of our volunteers fit this around work, family, or other commitments. If travel isn’t practical, this role can also be carried out remotely from home, making it accessible and convenient.

If you’d like to be part of a supportive, friendly team and help give our cats the happy endings they deserve, we would love to welcome you on board!
Fundraising
Join our fantastic fundraising team and help us raise the vital funds that give our cats and kittens the safe, happy futures they deserve.
We’re looking for enthusiastic, cat-loving volunteers with a little spare time, plenty of ideas, and a willingness to get stuck in. Whether you enjoy meeting people face-to-face or prefer to get creative behind the scenes online, there’s a place for you in our team.

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you can get involved in a wide range of activities, including:
· Helping to plan and organise fundraising events such as coffee mornings, bake sales, raffles, charity stalls, and seasonal events.
· Supporting and attending in-person events in your local area.
· Creating and running online fundraising campaigns, virtual events, or social media appeals.
· Coming up with new ideas and initiatives to help raise funds and awareness.
· Working alongside the wider team to bring events to life and make them a success.

You’ll have the freedom to take the lead on your own fundraising ideas, with the full support and guidance of our friendly team behind you every step of the way. Whether you want to organise a one-off event or help out regularly, your contribution will make a genuine difference.
This role is flexible, you can volunteer as much or as little time as suits you, taking part in events or projects when you’re available. Opportunities are available both in person and online, so you can get involved in a way that works best for you.

Every pound raised helps us provide food, shelter, medical care, and love for the cats and kittens who need us most. Quite simply, we couldn’t do it without our incredible volunteers. If you’d like to have fun, meet like-minded people, and make a real impact on the lives of cats in need, we would love for you to join our fundraising team!
Fostering
Join our fantastic volunteer team and open your home to cats or kittens in need, helping us improve their welfare and give them the best possible start on their journey to a forever home.
Fostering is one of the most rewarding and hands-on ways to support rescue work. By welcoming a cat or litter of kittens into your home, you’ll provide a safe, calm environment where they can recover, build confidence, and prepare for adoption. You’ll get to see their personalities blossom and know you’ve played a huge part in their happy ending.
This is a role that requires a higher level of commitment than some of our other volunteering opportunities. Foster carers need to be available to provide consistent, daily care and to work closely with our team throughout the fostering period, which can vary in length depending on each cat’s needs.

This role could be perfect for you if:
· You love cats but can’t commit to one permanently
· You live within approximately a 40-minute radius of York
· If you have your own pets, you have a separate spare room or dedicated space for fostering
· You have access to a vehicle for vet visits and supply collections.
· You have some previous cat care experience and feel confident handling a range of feline needs.
As a Foster Carer, your responsibilities will include:
· Providing daily care including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.
· To offer a clean, safe, peaceful and enriching environment for cats who have experienced upheaval.
· Offering patience, reassurance, and socialisation to help cats settle and build trust.
· Monitoring health, behaviour, and appetite, and keeping in regular contact with our team.
· Administering medication where needed (full guidance provided).
· Transporting cats to veterinary appointments.
· To maintain effective communication with the team and potential adopters.

You’ll never be left to manage things alone. Our friendly and experienced team will provide full guidance, and ongoing support throughout your fostering journey. All equipment, food, and veterinary care are provided, so fostering doesn’t have to cost you a penny.

While this role does require time, consistency, and dedication, it is incredibly rewarding. Every foster home we have allows us to rescue another cat in need and gives that cat the chance to experience love and safety in a home environment before finding their forever family.

If you’re ready to make a real difference and can offer the time and care this role requires, we would love to welcome you to our wonderful team of foster carers.
Join our fantastic volunteer team and help keep everything moving for the cats and kittens in our care. Our Transport Volunteers are the behind-the-scenes heroes who make sure cats, supplies, and support get exactly where they need to be. Without this vital role, we simply couldn’t carry out rescues, support our foster carers, or get cats the veterinary care they need.

In this role, you’ll be helping with a variety of important tasks, including:
· Transporting cats to and from veterinary appointments to support our foster carers.
· Collecting cats and bringing them safely into our care from vets, previous owners, or members of the public.
· Delivering and collecting donations such as food, litter, and other supplies.
· Moving equipment and resources around York to support our wider volunteer team
This is a flexible, pick-up-when-you-can role. You can offer your time as and when you’re available, taking on transport requests that fit around your schedule. Some tasks may be short local trips, while others may take a little longer, but there’s no minimum commitment.

To take on this role, you will need:
· Your own vehicle and a full driving licence.
· A love of cats and a calm, reliable approach.
· Good time management and organisational skills.
· Good communication so we can coordinate transport requests smoothly.

Every journey you make helps a cat get one step closer to safety, treatment, or their forever home. It’s a practical, hands-on way to make a real difference, and an ideal role for anyone who enjoys being out and about and part of a supportive team.
If you’d like to help us keep our rescue work on the move, we’d love to welcome you to our transport volunteer team!
