Do you need help to spay or neuter your cat or kitten?

To help tackle feline overpopulation crisis and reduce the spread of deadly diseases, we may be able to help you to neuter your cat or kitten through our means-tested neutering scheme. Take a look below for full details.

There are thousands of unwanted cats and kittens in the UK and to help tackle the overpopulation crisis we offer neutering vouchers to anyone who is struggling to fund neutering. Neutering is a safe & effective way to control the cat population. Neutering your cat has other health and behavioural benefits too and reduces the spread of deadly diseases among the wider cat population.

Terms and conditions:

  • To participate in the scheme you must be the rightful owner of the cat or kitten.

  • We will ask you to provide some basic information about your cat ie, name, age, health status etc.

  • Our neutering scheme is means tested, available to those on a low income, certain benefits or state-only pension. Evidence of eligibility must be provided and should clearly state your name and address.

  • You must pay £15 per voucher as a contribution towards the cost of neutering. The remainder of the bill is charity funded. The £15 fee is non-refundable unless our vets deem your cat unfit for neutering in which case a refund will be given. Once we have approved you for a voucher, payment should be made by bank transfer to:

       Band of Rescuers North Yorkshire

       Sort code: 30-90-91

       Account number: 65569768

      Reference: Neutering

Once you have informed us that payment has been made we will issue your voucher via the email address you provide.

If you are not able to make a bank transfer please let us know and we will advise you further.

  • Each voucher given has a unique reference number, the voucher must be printed and given to Tower vets on the day of the appointment. Once your voucher has been issued, please contact Tower vets to book the appointment prior to attending. There are a number of branches across York and Knaresborough for you to choose from.
    Fulford Branch   01904 653961

       Haxby Branch     01904 766100

       Acomb Branch    01904 798746

       Knaresborough   01423 866594

  • This offer relates to the cost of neutering ONLY. Should the vet determine your cat or kitten needs additional veterinary treatment, this would be at your cost and will not be charity funded.

  • The neutering agreement is between you and Tower veterinary practice in York or Knaresborough only. The vouchers are not redeemable at any other veterinary practice. On the day of your appointment you will be asked to sign a consent form for the surgery. It is your responsibility to read this carefully and ask the vet any questions you may have.

  • Our neutering vouchers do not hold any cash value and are not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.

  • This scheme only covers pet cats and stray cats (where exhaustive efforts have been made to find an owner). If you have a feral cat, they cannot be neutered under this scheme and we encourage you to get in touch for alternative neutering assistance.

  • PLEASE NOTE: This scheme is for people who have existing pet cats who find they are unable to afford neutering. If you have used our neutering scheme previously and go on to acquire more cats you will not be eligible to use this scheme again. The scheme is designed to support people who have taken on pets responsibly whose circumstances may have changed. Taking on any animal is a big decision with significant financial responsibility & must be carefully considered.

When you collect your cat or kitten following their procedure, we recommend purchasing a plastic “cone” to aid the healing process and to avoid any potential wound healing complications and potential extra cost to yourself. This is especially important in female cats. These cones are around £5.

We also strongly encourage you to have your cat microchipped when you take them to be neutered if they are not already
chipped. This will help you and your cat be reunited should they stray, get lost or stolen and helps you to prove ownership. It's a small additional cost for invaluable peace of mind!
